Hi guys, i really need to get my acts together and really start house searching and doing a whole lot of nice interior designs. I have been doing alot of researching on cool and easy D.I.Y, and i found alot of amazing ones which i will be sharing as time goes on.
Just because i am vain and self obsessed i decided today to share this mirror D.I.Y to initiate you all into the club.
How cool is this starbust mirror? Very cool thats what! I came across it on Popsugar and just had to share it with you guys.
What You'll Need:
- Round mirror
- 10-inch or 11-3/4-inch wooden skewers
- Paper towel
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Painter's tape
- Newspaper
- Silver spray paint
- Soda can pop top
Directions:
Get your mirror rready by removing any labels and stickers and arrange the skewers around the mirror. You can stick with keeping the skewers at the same lenght or get funky with different lenghts by cutting some of them up.
To stop the mirror from scratching when turned over, place a paper towel on your workspace. Create a guideline for glueing the wooden skewers by securing one at the top of the mirror and one directly below it, attaching around an inch of the skewer to the mirror. Continue to fill in the open spaces around the outside edge until there's no more room.
Cover the front ot the mirror with painters tape to protect it once you've finished with the skewers
Take the starburst mirror outdoors, cover your work area with newspaper, and spray the wooden skewers with paint. Once dry, flip and spray with another coat. Touch up as needed.
Carefully remove the tape and flip the mirror over. Things aren't going to look pretty on the backside of the mirror, but that's okay because the front will be. attach a soda can pop top to the back with a big dollop of hot glue to hang on the wall.
Et voila!
