FASHION WEEK IS HERE

It's amazing how this is my third official year at fashion week not just the Lfdw but going as far back as my first experience, Arise fashion week 2012.
I have managed to experience fashion week playing so many roles ranging from interning to working production and even on the team of the fashion week magazine like I did last year.

Titi belo one of the designers showing at this year's lfdw got me to come along with her for her fittings and it brought about so much memories.
The interns, tantrums, model lineups and all the accents flying around all over the place.

I officially can smell fashion week in the air.
The cycle continues and it's so pretentious as always.
I think I might need to explain what I mean, I have spent most of my time using that word in place of stuck up, too unreal and maybe even fake.

There's a designer before us one of the more established ones she makes the models laugh but she owns it so much that she still manages to get her vision. She makes the wrong models take the clothes off and she searches for the tallest or shortest model in the room to cater for her needs and what I believe is her vision.

It's good to see new models as well but the older, more established ones still get first pick but it seems like we are getting somewhere.
I expected it though cause there have been so many new agencies since late last year.
I only hope they can walk and strut it as I always felt the models don't get enough if any training in this part of the world.

Let's not forget the interns arguing and talking about the all black look, I remember finding it annoying as well but then nothing says professional like a dress code, you would be shocked how some people would still rock black on black unprofessionally.

My aspirations for fashion week? To be for the first time a guest, to watch the show as a blogger and to start my journey into the world of fashion criticing.
That was my goal as at Arise Fashion week.
I hope you don't hate me.
I plan to be super constructive.

Are you going to be there? what are your own goals?

  2. Hello Desola,

You write really well, it's impressive.

It's refreshing to see another perspective of LFDW, one that shows more than just high definition pictures of high fashion. One with the real backstage angle.

    Nicely done. :-)
