DIY: CAMERA STRAP

When I get something new, My first instinct is always to explore, personalise or customise it and just like buying and choosing the perfect case for a phone i felt the need to personalise my new camera's strap.
I have a lot of fabric from my fashion school days and I own a sewing machine so it wasn't so hard to do. the good part is that if you took home economics or needlework class at some point in secondary school then you are good to go because this is easily achievable with your hands also.
I used leftover kente fabric that my cousin gave me from his trip to ghana and made two strap covers for I and my brother.
On deciding what i wanted and how to go about it, I decided that the best thing was to utilize the strap that came with my camera as i wasn't about to experiment with the strength of fabric that i wasn't sure of so just like wearing a case over a pillow this cover was worn over my canon strap.
STEPS
------------------------------------------------------------
  • STEP 1: Measure your existing strap's width and length
  • STEP 2: Make The measurement on your proposed fabric
  • STEP 3: Add about 3 inches allowance
  • STEP 4: fold your fabric into two and cut out the measured area with your scissors
  • STEP 5: Sew each vertical end of the fabric neatly
  • STEP 6: Join the horizontal parts together making sure the remaining measurement can fit your strap
  • STEP 7: Voila! Fold your camera strap gently into two to pass it through
Your new personalised strap is good to go.
