RECIPE: COCKTAIL - TEQUILA SUNRISE

Tequila Sunrise is one of my two fave cocktails, it is a CLASSIC cocktail named for the way it looks after it has been poured into a glass. The denser ingredients (cassis or grenadine) settle, creating gradations in color that mimic a sunrise. The Tequila Sunrise is considered a long drink.

Ingredients:

 2 msr tequila (Base spirit)

orange juice

2 dashes grenadine syrup

Ice cubes

Recipe:

Pour tequila in a highball glass with ice, and top with orange juice. Stir. Add grenadine syrup by tilting glass and pouring grenadine down side by flipping the bottle vertically very quickly. The grenadine should go straight to the bottom and then rise up slowly through the drink.  The catch is getting syrup down without mixing it. you may also use a spoon to guide the syrup down the glass wall to the bottom of the glass with minimal mixing.

Serve:

on the ROCKS in High ball glass with: Garnish stirrer  straw cherry-orange.

Flavour:

Fruity/citrus, sour,mildly sweet

Variations:

 These are usually made like the traditional tequila sunrise, substituting or adding other ingredients.

Variations of the Tequila Sunrise include the Tequila Sunset, in which the grenadine is replaced with blackberry brandy, the Caribbean Sunrise, which substitutes rum for tequila, a Vodka Sunrise, also substituting the tequila-this time with vodka, and an Astronaut's Sunrise, in which the orange juice is replaced with Tang. Aperol Sunrise, substitute Aperol orange liqueur for grenadine or crème de cassis. 

Southern Sunrise, use Southern Comfort instead of tequila,Amaretto Sunrise – use Disaronno amaretto instead of tequila, Florida Sunrise – use equal measures of pineapple and orange juice, Red Sea Sunrise – non-alcoholic version that uses lemonade or Sprite instead of tequila, Enamorada Sunrise – substitute Campari for grenadine syrup, Colorado Sunrise – use Captain Morgan and Sunny Delight instead of tequila and orange juice, and lastly, Bequia Sunrise – use Union Jake's Honey Brandy instead of tequila.
